News Release – Labour Party Annual Business Reception

A Worcester businessman has been invited to the Labour Party’s annual business reception where he will get to quiz leaders Ed Milliband and Ed Balls.

Stuart Allen, who runs The Sales Performance Company Ltd will attend the event on Tuesday (17th July) at the Chartered Architects Hall in central London.

Mr Allen works with corporate clients to improve the skills of their sales teams and was also recently contracted to develop and teach an Advanced Apprenticeship in Professional Sales for young people aged 16-24. The programme is certified by City & Guilds and will be offered by QA Apprenticeships.

He said: “I was delighted to be asked to attend this event as I, like many other business people have extreme concerns about the lack of interaction between education and commerce. As a result we have too many school leavers without the ability to ‘promote themselves’ at interview, or the confidence and ability to find work. I would like to see ALL schools put as much emphasis on business and communication skills as they do on academic qualifications.”

Mr Allen was invited to the event by Toby Perkins who is MP for Chesterfield and the Shadow Minister for Small Business. Mr Allen stated “Back in January I saw an article in the Financial Times where Toby had written that “selling was a fundamental life skill and should be taught in school.” I contacted him to say that I agreed and how could I help? Two weeks later we met at his office in the House of Commons and have kept in touch ever since.”

Mr Allen will report on the event later in the week.
